Irazú Volcano National Park

This park is located northeast of the city of Cartago.

The Irazu Volcano has a long history of eruptions and its slopes are very fertile thanks to the accumulation of volcanic material. This is a principal area for agriculture in the Central Valley, with many plantations that grow vegetables, particularly potatoes.
