Tenorio Volcano National Park

This national park, created in 1995, includes the Tenorio Volcano (1´916m / 6´286ft), the famous Rio Celeste (Sky Blue River), and wonderful rainforests and cloud forests.

The river gets its remarkable otherworldly colour due to a combination of volcanic minerals. The well-preserved mostly primary forest gives shelter to a great variety of mammals, such as the endangered tapir which has a good-sized population in this area.
