How to get there from San José?
Our trip started early in the morning on the Route 27 from San José towards Caldera and Puntarenas. Route 27 is a modern and well maintained highway that takes you through beautiful landscapes and mountains. After some time on Route 27, we took the exit to Liberia Guanacaste and continued on the National Route 1, also known as the Panamerican Highway, towards Santa Cruz and Nicoya. After passing through Santa Cruz we arrived safely at the entrance to Papagayo in Guanacaste. Our journey took about 4.5 hours of stressless driving and in nice company.
The hotel
Upon entering the Papagayo Golden Palms Beachfront Hotel, you are greeted by warm, smiling and friendly staff, as well as stunning architecture and beautifully landscaped gardens.
On arrival at the hotel we were greeted by the hotel manager, Diego Cano, who kindly escorted us to the lobby to check in and enjoy a delicious and refreshing welcome cocktail.
After checking in we went to our room and wow! We were surprised by the size of the rooms, as the hotel has extremely spacious rooms (all 40m2), combining comfort and cleanliness, where you can enjoy and relax in your living room and private terrace, surrounded by beautiful gardens. From time to time, you can see squirrels, iguanas, butterflies and different species of birds, curiously observing in the corners of the gardens.
All rooms have many services for the comfort of its guests. The Family Suites have twin beds and the Bosque Suite has a queen bed, but both categories are equally spacious and comfortable. All rooms are equipped with

The hotel offers a total of 40 suites, each designed with attention to detail to provide an unforgettable experience. Additional private villas are under construction and will be completed by 2024.
In the afternoon we enjoyed the large swimming pool, although we could not resist a dip in the sea just in front of the hotel, which is very safe for swimming as it is similar to a lake. Even at low tide the water is always below the waist, ideal for swimmers to relax and enjoy the sunset.

A very important aspect to mention is that the hotel is focused on families and from July 21rst the hotel allows children under 12 years old.
We took advantage of another of the hotel's relaxation areas, with hammocks and sea views, and went for a stroll along its beautiful beach. There is no doubt that at Papagayo Golden Palms Beachfront Hotel you will find what you need to recharge your batteries and regain your strength!
Dining experience
The culinary experience at the hotel was also very rewarding. The hotel has the Arenas Restaurant with a capacity of up to 80 people, which offers a select menu of dishes based on modern Costa Rican cuisine combined with a mix of international flavors.
It is a culinary alternative for all tastes with affordable prices in the area where there is not much of this type of offer.
Our recommendation
This hotel enjoys an environment full of peace and harmony, perfect to take a break after having lived great experiences and many activities during our tours and programs.
