The food in Costa Rica is agreeable and not too spicy. For the locals, beans and rice play an important role. The typical breakfast is named “Gallo Pinto” and consists of a tasty mixture of rice and beans served with fried eggs “Huevos Rancheros”. The typical Costa Rican lunch and dinner include rice, beans, cooking bananas, vegetables, salad, and fish, chicken, or beef. Seafood is also very popular. Costa Rica is a paradise for fruit, which is consumed either raw or mixed with water or milk as a smoothie. Many restaurants also serve international dishes. Besides fruit juices, Costa Ricans consume a lot of beer. “Imperial”, „Pilsen“ and „Bavaria“ are the most well-known brands. Wine is exclusively imported and available in most restaurants.
